40CrNiMoA Structural Steel Bar

Chrome-Moly low alloy steel series contains 0.5% – 9% Cr and 0.5% – 1% Mo and lower than 0.20% carbon. 40CrNiMoA, 4340 and SNCM439 are the low alloy chromoly steel materials from the different standards. 40CrNiMoA steel is a Chinese standard chromium-molybdenum high strength steel with good hardenability and toughness. 4340 and SNCM439 are standards from American and Japanese respectively. In most situation they can be alternative materials, unless there is a special note or used for special purpose. Their differences are mainly existed in chemical elements, details showed as follows:

It was used where require high tensile and good wear-resistance property parts such as  heavy-duty axles, shafts, heavy-duty gears, spindles, pins, studs, bolts, couplings, sprockets, pinions, torsion bars, connecting rods. These high tensile alloy steel has been widely used in the areas such as petrol chemical industry, automotive, steam power equipment and other high temperature services.

40CrNiMoA Steel Bar

40CrNiMoA Steel Bar

40CrNiMoA alloy structural steel is made of high-quality carbon structural steel by adding one or several alloying elements (total content not exceeding 5%). Common quality defects of bearing parts after heat treatment include: quenching microstructure overheating, underheating, quenching cracks, insufficient hardness, heat treatment deformation, surface decarburization, soft spots, etc. 40CrNiMoA structural steel is mainly used to make more important quenched and tempered parts that require high strength, high toughness, large cross-sectional size, such as the transmission eccentric shaft of the horizontal forging machine, and the crankshaft of the forging press. After quenching and tempering, it is used to make important parts that require good plasticity, high strength and large size. In heavy machinery, high-load shafts, steam turbine shafts, blades with a diameter greater than 250mm, high-load transmission parts, fasteners, crankshafts, gears, etc. In addition, it can also be used to make important parts with special performance requirements after nitriding treatment.
