Cast Basalt is formed by recrystallising naturally occcuring basalt rock and forms a finely crystalised glass ceramic of extreme hardness. It provides a resistant long lasting lining for static plant over which large volumes of abrasive or corrosive materials are passed. Cast Basalt is formed by “Melting and Recrystallizing” naturally occurring basalt rock. The controlled cooling of the molten Basalt Rock forms finely crystallized black glass ceramic of extreme hardness 8 on the moh scale.
Cast basalt lining is a wear resistant solution that is based on minerals. It handles and processes the components that convey abrasive elements. The cast basalt liners and tiles are manufactured by melting volcanic rocks. They are then casted in the form of different shapes including cylinders and tiles.
Basalt is ideally suited to protect equipment where abrasive materials are conveyed and cause sliding abrasion such as in pipes and bends for pneumatic or hydraulic systems, in cyclones and seperators, in flumes and chain conveyors, in hoppers and silos, mixers, tanks, pulpers, etc.
Naturally occuring basalt rock is quarried, melted, cast and annealed to form a finely crystallised glass ceramic of extreme hardness (8.5 on the moh scale)
Basalt provides a long lasting lining for static plant over which large volumes or abrasive and/or corrosive materials are passed.
Basalt tiles can be bedded and joined in cement or special bonding agents. The agents chosen depend on the application. Tiles can be supplied with a counter sunk central hole for individual bolting onto or in ready-made liner plates and pipes.
Basalt can resist wear corrosion and temperatures up to approximately 400 °C; Cast Basalt is generally used in wet material handling situations such as coal chutes and ash sluceways, ash pipelines at power stations and hydraulic granulated slag or sand conveying services . Basalt should be used in light impact areas. If you are in doubt let our sales engineer advise you on an “impact friendly” design.
Cast basalt is also used in cement plants for making air separators, chain conveyor, silica hoppers, nozzles, coal hoppers, cement hoppers, cyclones, raw mill ducts, chutes, thick slurry lines, mixers, grate cooler housing, coal ventury etc.
